ELSC is a network of emerging leaders from all sectors – social, government and private – who want to create positive social change in Australia.

We believe the way social change happens in Australia needs a massive re-think.  Neither the already-stretched nonprofit organisations nor the fragmented social sector have kept pace with changes in our communities.  They risk becoming increasingly out-dated and less effective.  As emerging leaders for social change, we feel compelled to do something about this.

As emerging leaders, our experience of social change is that it is often reactive, ad hoc, organisational-centric, and done that way because ‘that is the way it has always been done’.  We don’t want to lead in this way.  We lead social change in a way that is people-centred, highly responsive, and above all impactful.  In the future, we want end-user participation, innovation, evidence-based practice, and evaluation to be the hall-marks of how social change happens everywhere.

Emerging leaders are key to this transformation.

Our strategy involves supporting and mobilizing emerging leaders to be part of transforming Australia’s not-for-profit or social sector into a place where we would all want to work in future.  We are seeking to blur the distinction between the government, private and social sectors, so that we can collectively work to create the kind of society that we all want.

We think that transformation of the social sector will help to achieve our vision of a thriving and connected Australia for everyone.
